Opportunity: Postdoc and GRA positions in MEMS at the University of Maryland

Details: The responsibilities of the first postdoc position include the development of a new type of smart material based on micro- and nano-structured polymers.  The responsibilities of the second postdoc will include the development of actuators for microrobotics and micro-air vehicles based on dielectric elastomers.  The starting salary is $45,000/year plus benefits. The GRA position is also in the field of polymer MEMS.  A candidate seeking a PhD who already has an MS degree is preferred.

Opportunity: Post-Doctoral Research Position in MEMS at Columbia University

Details: The responsibilities of the position will include development of an arrayed micro-channel and/or micro-impingement thermal management system for high heat-flux concentrated photovoltaic applications. Required qualifications include: a demonstrated familiarity with MEMS design and fabrication processes, packaging, and system integration. Past experience in micro-fluidics and heat transfer is highly desired. The responsibilities for the candidate will be to develop and validate concepts for thermal management that are amenable to micro-fabrication and integrate the packaging within the larger system.
